Prior to join the project, I was working on my own version of phone based AR headset. It was called Lite AR, which was also powered by a smartphone but with different optics. I was intrigued by Ximmerse immediately when they told me that they are working on something similar to Lite AR with a "very large company".

When I started working on the project, the most important objective was to create a proof-of-concept to convince the leadership. There were a lot of unknowns, including optics, tracking technology, mechanical design and so on. We needed to get to the Star Wars aesthetic style as possible, which introduced a lot of engineering challenges. Eventually, the proof-of-concept worked very well and won support from the Disney board. It got Lenovo's attention during CES. Lenovo got so interested that they eventually bought Mirage brand, handled all the manufacturing and launched the product with Disney.
